I'm not flexible, how will Yoga benefit me?
Yoga is for all bodies and abilities. All of our teachers are trained in Hatha Yoga- the goal here is to maintain optimal health and strength in both the mind and body, Some of our teachers are even trained in Yoga for the Special Child, a program created to work with persons of all capabilities including those who are not mobile. The benefits of Yoga span beyond "flexibility." Read below for more information on the benefits of yoga.
Is Yoga a religion? Will it contradict my own personal set of beliefs, religious system, or lack thereof?
Yoga will in no way contradict your personal religious system or beliefs. MpowerD is proud to offer a yoga environment that welcomes any and all people interested in learning the yogic techniques of mindfulness, movement, breath, and connection.
What should I wear to yoga?
Wear something comfortable and modest that allows you to move freely: gym shorts, spandex or sweat pants, and a t-shirt, tank top, sweatshirt or long sleeve T. No shoes or socks are required. MpowerD T-shirts and shorts are always provided in case you need.
How do I prepare for my yoga class?
Please come to class with an open mind and lightly filled stomach. We do not recommend eating a heavy meal before class, instead a light snack so that you can move feely and focus on the teachings.
What should I bring?
All you need to bring is an open mind. Yoga mats, blocks, straps, blankets and water bottles are provided by the studio, in addition to MpowerD shirt and shorts for use during your class.
Is there any studio etiquette that I should be aware of?
Please arrive early to your class, so that you can settle in and sign a waiver if it's your first time. To save time sign your waiver online! We ask that you remove your shoes upon entry of the Yoga room, and place them in a bin to the side. In order to get the most out of your time in Yoga please keep cell phones in the bins off or on SILENT (no vibrate please as it's distracting to other students). In the event that you'll need to be reached for an emergency let the MpowerD team be of assistance, our number is 703 618 0762, and if you are called during our class one of our staff will come and get you.
